Lanefab, a Vancouver company, has just completed work on the city's first "net zero" solar powered lane way house. Not only is it energy efficient but it looks great too. Visit their OPEN HOUSE Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12 from 12-4pm to view the finished product at 2733 East 57th (by Vivian St).
From Lanefab: The "net zero" house produces all of it's own power; producing extra electricity in the summer, and drawing on that stored power at night and during the winter. The house recycles waste heat from the shower drain water, has a 500 gallon rainwater tank, triple-glazed windows and doors, and 95% of the lighting is provided by high efficiency LEDs.
